Operating company.

Yacht Transits Limited contracts yacht movement across European waters. Base of operations: Beaulieu-sur-Mer.

Mandate AB-01

Delivery failure is administrative, not nautical.

Deliveries rarely fail at sea. They fail through loss of contact, unaccounted damage, a condition problem found at the far end rather than before departure, and costs raised after the fact.

Each is an administrative failure and each is preventable. Yacht Transits plans in writing, reports continuously, documents both ends of every passage, and treats a written quote as fixed rather than indicative.

Base of operations is Beaulieu-sur-Mer, on the corridor where much European yacht movement begins or ends. Operating area is the continent. Vessels are built in the north, sold in the south, wintered inland and chartered in the islands.

How we work AB-02

Operating commitments.

Six standards applied to every contracted delivery.

01

Vessel takes precedence

No schedule or fee overrides vessel safety. Where the window closes, departure is held and the cause is reported.

02

Continuous reporting

Position transmitted at agreed intervals, with immediate notification of any change. The quoting manager remains the point of contact throughout.

03

Full documentation

Condition photography and systems checklist at both ends, engine hours logged, fuel reconciled against receipts. No element of the record depends on recollection.

04

Qualified crew only

Commercially endorsed skippers and experienced watchkeepers, assigned by vessel and cruising area. Certification issued to owner and underwriter before departure.

05

Fixed quotation

Inclusions listed, pass-through costs named, and any unforeseen expenditure agreed in advance rather than invoiced retrospectively.

06

Declined where unsuitable

Wrong season, wrong vessel or inadequate preparation results in the contract being declined rather than the consequences being managed at sea.

Crew & network AB-03

Small, qualified, and picked for the passage.

Yacht Transits is a small operation, and that is the point rather than an apology for it. Crew are commercially endorsed, chosen for the vessel and the water in front of them, and you will know who is taking your boat before she leaves — not meet a name on an invoice afterwards.

Every skipper holds a commercial endorsement appropriate to the tonnage and the waters, which is what puts a current medical and safety training behind the ticket. Selection is made against the specific passage — engine configuration, tonnage, handling behaviour and the coastline involved — and the full qualification pack is issued to you and to your underwriter in writing before anybody steps aboard.

  • Commercially endorsed skippers, assigned by tonnage, vessel type and the cruising ground the passage actually crosses.
  • Endorsed to 200 gross tonnes, comfortably beyond the 80ft ceiling we take work to — a deliberate margin, not a limit we are pressed against.
  • A watch rotation that is real — where a leg needs more than one pair of hands aboard, we crew it properly or we do not take it.
  • Berthing and shore arrangements made at both ends before departure, so nothing waits on a quay for someone to make a phone call.

Qualifications AB-04

What the tickets actually say.

An owner is entitled to know exactly who is taking the boat, so here is the certification in plain terms rather than a badge on a page.

  • RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore (motor) — examined command of a motor yacht on offshore passages, commercially endorsed for paid work.
  • STCW Basic Safety Training — fire prevention and fire fighting, personal survival, personal safety and social responsibility.
  • ENG1 seafarer medical — the medical fitness standard required to work commercially at sea.
  • RYA Small Craft Basic Sea Survival — liferafts, abandonment and survival in the water.
  • RYA First Aid — marine first aid, current.
  • GMDSS Short Range Certificate — the licence to operate VHF and DSC radio equipment.
  • Professional Practices and Responsibilities — the RYA professional-conduct requirement behind a commercial endorsement.
  • Proficiency in Security Awareness — ISPS security awareness for commercial vessels.
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 — close-quarters handling and boat control.
  • International Certificate of Competence — the ICC, recognised for pleasure craft across European waters.

Certificate numbers, expiry dates and the medical are issued to you and to your underwriter in writing before anyone steps aboard. If your broker wants to check them, they should be able to — and with us they can.

Behind the certificates: working experience of the Balearics, the Spanish coast and the South Coast of England, on motor yachts and fast craft. We would rather tell you exactly where we have been than describe ourselves as seasoned.

“Every passage planned in writing before departure.”

Who we work with AB-05

Client base.

A substantial share of delivery work is contracted by the trade rather than directly by owners.

01

Private owners

Seasonal repositioning, moves after a purchase, getting her home from a charter base, or simply not wanting to spend a fortnight of annual leave doing Biscay.

02

Brokers & dealers

Moving stock between showrooms and shows, delivering sold boats to new owners, and handling the collection and handover so a sale does not sour in its last week.

03

Yards & builders

New-build collection, yard-to-yard transfers, sea trials and delivery to a customer's home port, with progress reported back through the build if wanted.

04

Charter & management companies

Season-start and season-end repositioning between bases, crewed to the tonnage and the waters, and reported continuously while she is on passage.
